S4S PVC Trim: Milling Standards and Material Properties

Ekena Millwork's s4s PVC trim is surfaced four sides to consistent, square dimensions across the full line. Like the hardwood s4s program, all four faces are milled smooth and ready for direct installation or shop fabrication without additional prep. Dimensional consistency is maintained across shipments, supporting repeatable results on multi-unit or phased projects.

PVC trim does not absorb moisture, rot, or support mold and mildew growth, making it the correct material specification for exterior trim applications including window casing, door surround, fascia, and frieze work. It will not warp, swell, or delaminate with seasonal moisture cycling the way wood-based trim products can. For contractors and dealers operating in humid climates, coastal markets, or high-moisture environments, PVC trim eliminates the callbacks and warranty issues associated with wood failure at exterior exposures.

The material is paintable with standard latex paint, allowing color matching to project specifications or builder standards. It does not require priming or sealing before painting. PVC trim is not intended for stain grade applications; for natural wood grain appearances, Ekena's s4s hardwood trim line covers ten stain grade species.
